Environmental Studies

There are many programs that come under the umbrella of environmental studies; some of them are general in nature, designed to give an introduction to the subject area, but many of them are more specialized in nature, dealing with specific areas such as conservation, environmental building and city design, wildlife management, eco tourism and similar topics.

Subjects studied in these courses vary, but typically will include areas such as ecology, economic growth and environmental quality, environment and history, environmental perspectives and human choice, climate change, and the marine environment. Specialized courses will be added to core subjects, or studied at a higher level, with the expectation that the core subjects have already been studied. Many courses are associated with the principles of sustainable development in different situations, such as rural development, inner city development and marine development. Such courses are usually aimed at people who will work with various government bodies.
