Most courses involve a practical element, often spent in a zoo or an entertainment park. This is usually for a reasonable proportion of the course. Indeed some institutions are associated with a public or private zoo. At the end of an animal training course the student is expected to be able to handle a range of animals, and be aware of their needs and wants in the situations they are likely to be working in."
