The Wireless Networked World Rapid Growth in Wireless Jobs - Part 1

If you are shopping in an Italian or French supermarket, you may have the opportunity to use some new wireless network technology to make your shopping trip easier. You pick up one of the special hand-held devices at the entrance to the shop, and you scan the barcode of every item you put into the trolley. You receive pricing and discount information as you shop, and you can take advantage of using faster checkout procedures - and even unmanned checkouts, giving you opportunity to skip those time wasting checkout lines.

This is just one application of the wi-fi revolution that is affecting our lives, and which is now gathering momentum. You will be increasingly aware of using wireless networks in a number of forms, including wireless keyboards and mice; you may be using a wireless LAN at work.


Wireless network development is going to affect all parts of our lives, including home, leisure, and, as we can see from the above, even shopping. Over the next few weeks I'm going to look at some specialist wireless network applications.

Wireless Training for Wireless Jobs

First, there are some issues that need to be addressed with this kind of technological development, and not the least of these issues is being able to operate and maintain the technology on a reliable level.

In order to be able to do this, there is going to be an increase in demand for skilled and qualified technicians to take up these new wireless jobs. Wireless training is going to be one of the best investments you can make in your future technology career. Certification is available in many of the manufacturers' technologies, and there is some useful vendor independent certification as well.

There are already a number of wireless jobs that require specialist knowledge and wireless training. If you are involved in systems administration or systems engineering of a wireless network you will be aware of the differences from the traditional cable networks. You need to be certified appropriately to maintain these networks and, because they tend to be more flexible and network with a whole variety of different kinds of devices, your knowledge has to be much broader than a traditional IT technician's role.

There are a number of IT technology schools which are offering specialist courses in wireless technology and are offering wireless training with appropriate certification. If you are to build your future career around wireless jobs, you need to make sure that you're ready to learn wireless training - not only for today's technologies, but also for the new and fascinating developments that are just beginning to come to fruition.

Taking an online college program in IT can give you the background in the new technologies you need. An online program means that you can study while you are working, without having to compromise your job development by taking time out.

Wireless networks are just beginning to impact on our everyday world. You can be a part of this new technology, so make sure that your wireless training is the best you can get.
