The Higher Education Funding Council in England recently awarded the Royal Shakespeare Company over $8.5 million to begin a new theatre study center at the University of Warwick. This money will fund a number of different programs benefiting students, teachers, and the famous professional acting troupe.
Many of the professional Shakespearian actors will hold master classes throughout the school year. The actors themselves will benefit from new state-of-the-art facilities, including a computer lab that enables 3D performance space modeling. Other benefits will include a playwright-in-residence program, and a new professorship dedicated to theatre and creativity. The funding council has also proposed the creation of collaborative workshops for gifted students as another public benefit from the new center.
