The Chancellor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City announced this month that she will be resigning. According to an article in the Chronicle for Higher Education, several faculty groups expressed their discontent with Chancellor Martha Gilliland in a series of no-confidence votes.
The central controversy surrounding the chancellor was her university transformation plan which cost over $2.5 million to draw up. Approximately $500,000 of that cost was paid to a friend of hers in consulting fees.
Several members of the faculty spoke out against the chancellor, claiming that she alienated them and promoted an "anti-intellectual atmosphere" at the school.
