Saving lives in the state of California is the dream job for emergency medical technician candidates. Beautiful sunshine and frequent emergencies make California a great state to be an emergency medical technician.

From car crashes to house fires, the state of California has more than its share of incidents that require the calm demeanor and cool nerves of the professional emergency medical technician. A rising population and increasing incidents of emergency have made California a prime employer of the qualified emergency medical technician.

Let's examine what it means to be a California emergency medical technician, as well as the types of duties and responsibilities you will be expected to perform should you become one.

Saving Lives Every Day: The California Emergency Medical Technician

Underneath the glitzy exterior of California lies the need for a certified emergency medical technician to provide assistance to victims of emergencies. When you become an emergency medical technician, you will use your medical training to save the lives of California residents every day.

One of the skills you will develop as an emergency medical technician is the ability to survey the situation and provide first level support for your patients. After arriving on the scene, you must triage the injured and stabilize victims for their trip to the hospital. This is what the California emergency medical technician gets paid to do day in and day out.

Emergency Medical Technician Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Police. As a California emergency medical technician, you will work closely with the police department to assist accidents victims of all types.
  • Medical Care. Your primary role as an emergency medical technician is to provide medical care for injured people.
  • Patient Transport. Driving the ambulance is also a critical role in your position as an emergency medical technician. Your patient must arrive to the hospital safely in order for them to be treated, of course.
  • Reporting. You will keep accurate records of the situation and the patients that you treat.
